How Do You Celebrate Pro Bono Awareness Month?

October is Pro Bono Awareness Month.

2013 Indianapolis Bar President, Kerry Hyatt Blomquist, makes a compelling case for doing pro bono work to attorneys in her short article "Using your Powers for Good: Build Your Practice with Pro Bono", recently published in the Indianapolis Bar Association insert in the Oct. 9-22, 2013 issue of the Indiana Lawyer.

Doxpop supports the pro bono effort in Indiana by providing free Doxpop access to the Pro Bono District Coordinators and the staff in their offices. We also are pleased to provide a substantial matching gift again this year in raising funds for our locally supported pro bono office.

Please join us in encouraging and thanking Indiana attorneys across the state who use their powers for good by assisting those who deserve better representation than they can afford, and who become better lawyers in the process.

A good way to celebrate Pro Boner awareness month would be for lawyers to actually start doing their jobs for Pro Bono clients rather than selling out to the courts and police fascism. The message to most people with an IQ over room temperature is that if you want any kind of "justice" is that it's only accessible to those that can afford it. An attorneys duty always seems to be with the court over the clients regardless if the suit or arrest is fabricated.

Anon- We'll leave your slightly abusive post up here, because it serves as a good reminder that the job isn't done yet. However, I hope you'll take a moment to think about whether this comment is likely to change anything.

We know you're mad about something, but since you're anonymous and not specific about whatever harm has been done to you, there's not much anyone can do to help. If you want something to change for the better, you'll have to muster the courage to show your name and be specific about whatever injustice has gotten you so angry.
